How to use a Jade Facial Roller

Jade rollers are a huge trend right now. They are said to increase circulation, decrease puffiness because it massages the lymphatic system which releases having similar effects to a lymphatic draining massage. There are also reports that using it in conjunction with your moisturizer/eye cream in the morning or night will significantly help your skin absorb the product. Depending on what the individual properties of the crystal are, you may want to go with something other than jade. The main rollers you’ll find (within what I would consider a reasonable budget) will be jade or rose quartz.

I’ve been using my jade roller for a few months now and honestly, I love it. I chose this one and decided to give it a try early on in my pregnancy in an attempt to get a jump on swelling or any other puffiness that comes along with pregnancy.

First thing is first. Keep your roller in the fridge. Sometimes, I forget and I’ll just throw it in the freezer for 5-10 minutes but I prefer keeping it in the fridge. Having it chilled essentially becomes the old frozen spoon over your eyes method x 100.

I roll the larger side in an upward motion along my cheeks. I roll it outward from my mouth which means I roll up towards my eyes, out towards my ears, and both down and out on my chin. I use the smaller end primarily around my eyes. Even with a good night’s sleep and a good diet, dark circles and puffiness is something I deal with under my eyes. This helps me counter some of what is already taking place.

While double checking that I was actually using it correctly for this post, I ran across this image that best matches the way I use it.

If you want to maximize it’s benefits, not only should you use it on a clean face, but apply your moisturizer and eye cream before rolling. This apparently helps your skin absorb the product better. When you see rollers being sold along with skincare sets, believe it or not, it’s not a scam. If you’re using your roller regularly, it should be maximizing the benefits of the products you’re using.

If you feel like adding this to your routine both in the morning and evening is a bit much, I would suggest going with morning. This may be different for everyone, but I love how it calms my puffy sleep face and that takes priority in my routine. If you’re someone wanting to focus on getting the most from anti-aging night cream or heavy-duty under eye cream, I would suggest focusing on the evening routine.

Now, get to rolling and let me know if you’ve noticed a difference!
